The Falcon (Fan Art) - Game Ready Character Model

Realtime/Game-Ready character of The Falcon.

For this fan-art project, I really wanted to go with a superhero, and I decided to go with Sam Wilson (Falcon). I wanted to embody the feeling I get when I see these characters in the comics, but also keep that form of realism we so often get from the movies in the form of metal, and armor. I didn't want to stray away from either concept, so I went with what I felt was the best of both worlds, by keeping a tighter suit on him, but having a more mechanical side to the wings, while keeping it as dynamic as possible.

Pinterest was my friend during the process of this character, as I used many iterations of the character over the years as reference and inspiration. This was done using ZBrush for the character sculpt, retopologized in topogun and optimized it to a tri-count of 39,786, including eyes, teeth, and the wings. I also used 3 2k texture maps. A map for the body, a second map for the wings, and finally a third map for the face.

This was textured using a PBR workflow in Substance Painter. The texture maps include an albedo, roughness, metalness, ambient occlusion, emissive, normal, and a hand painted subdermal map for the skin.

The pose and short animation was done with Mixamo, and cleaned up in Maya using the weight painting system for deformation errors.
